The population structures of Buccinum tsubai and Neptunea constricta were compared using partial sequences of the mitochondrial COI gene. B. tsubai included four genetically distinguishable subpopulations (Hokkaido, Yamagata-Toyama, Yamato Bank, and San’in), which is consistent
with the results of our previous study using mitochondrial 16SrRNA sequences. The genetic structure of N. constricta was also clear, but the lineage sorting corresponding to the geographical distribution was not as clear as that of B. tsubai. The difference between the genetic structures of these two species might be due to a difference in either their dispersal
abilities or the historic distribution patterns in the Sea of Japan. The fossil record and nested clade analyses support the
latter alternative. The four subpopulations of B. tsubai are estimated to have diverged 0.42–1.46 million years ago, providing support for the existence of intermediate water of
normal salinity and oxygen concentration capable of sustaining B. tsubai between the low-salinity surface water and anoxic deep water during the Pleistocene glacial periods. The genetic diversity
of the Yamato Bank subpopulation of B. tsubai was lower than that of the other subpopulations, which is likely attributable to the small size of the Yamato Bank subpopulation. 相似文献

We need a consistent methodology to measure the co-benefits of climate change mitigation across Asian countries. This study chose a strategy of modifying the Japan-specific life-cycle impact assessment method based on endpoint modeling (LIME) for wider application across countries. LIME has two dimensions. First, it is an environmental science that links the cause-and-effect chain. Second, it is an environmental valuation that weighs four endpoint damages in monetary terms through a conjoint analysis that is derived from an Internet-based questionnaire survey. This article describes the modification of the methodology for application of the conjoint analysis to weigh environmental impacts. We approached the investigation as follows. First, we conducted Internet surveys to measure marginal willingness-to-pay (MWTP). We used a sample of 112 respondents in their 20 s to 40 s, divided equally between men and women, in 11 cities across China, India, and Southeast Asia. The results obtained showed clear statistical significance and were comparable across the cities. Second, we attempted to develop functions (called benefit transfer functions) to simplify the measured MWTP in order to apply it across different Asian countries. The functions were derived through a stepwise meta-analytic method, a type of multiple regression analysis whose independent variable was MWTP and dependent variables were attributes of both respondents and surveyed cities. The functions showed that coal consumption and percentage of nature reserve were dependent variables. Then, the MWTPs estimated from the functions were compared with the measured MWTP for transfer error, which is calculated by the absolute value of the difference between the estimated value and the measured value divided by the latter. The transfer error was below 50% in about 90% of the 44 results (a combination of four endpoints and 11 cities), implying that the developed functions were statistically significant. 相似文献

Combined ultrasonic (US) irradiation and sodium peroxodisulfate (Na2S2O8) treatment has been investigated for promotion of both decomposition of (4-chloro-2-methylphenoxy) acetic acid (MCPA) and mineralization of organic residues. This treatment is expected to accelerate both reactions, because the US cavitation effect promotes the production of radicals, such as SO 4 ? · and OH·, by the decomposition of Na2S2O8 and water. In this study, decomposition experiments were performed on 100?ppm MCPA aqueous solutions in a sonoreactor at reaction temperatures of 298?C333?K with US irradiation alone, Na2S2O8 treatment alone, and the combination of US and Na2S2O8 treatment. It was found that the combined treatment achieved a higher MCPA decomposition rate and total organic carbon (TOC) removal ratio than either treatment alone. The decomposition ratios of both MCPA and TOC increased with reaction temperature, and especially steep increases were observed at 333?K due to a significant promotion of thermal decomposition of Na2S2O8. The production of radical species was also promoted by the combined treatment. These results suggest that the higher MCPA decomposition rate and TOC removal ratio are due to the increased formation of sulfate and hydroxyl radicals via thermal and US decomposition of Na2S2O8. 相似文献

To obtain basic information for evaluating critical levels of O3 under different nitrogen loads for protecting Japanese beech forests, two-year-old seedlings of Fagus crenata Blume were grown in potted andisol supplied with N as NH4NO3 solution at 0, 20 or 50 kg ha−1 year−1 and exposed to charcoal-filtered air or O3 at 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0 times the ambient concentration from 16 April to 22 September 2004. The O3 induced significant reductions in the whole-plant dry mass, net photosynthetic rate at 380 μmol mol−1 CO2 (A
380), carboxylation efficiency (CE) and concentrations of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) and total soluble protein (TSP) in the leaves.
The concentrations of Rubisco and TSP were negatively correlated with the concentration of leaf acidic amino acid, suggesting
that O3 enhanced the degradation of protein such as Rubisco. The N supply to the soil did not significantly change the whole-plant
dry mass and A
380, whereas it significantly increased the CE and concentrations of Rubisco and total amino acid. No significant interactive effects of O3 and N supply to the soil were detected on the growth, photosynthetic parameters and concentrations of protein and amino acid
in the leaves. In conclusion, N supply to the soil at ≤50 kg ha−1 year−1 does not significantly change the sensitivity to O3 of growth and net photosynthesis of Fagus crenata seedlings. 相似文献

Leachate samples were taken from seven different landfills and concentrations of brominated flame retardants (BFRs), i.e. polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), were quantified. Leaching characteristics of BFRs, especially factors affecting leachability, were clarified to obtain basic information regarding the release of BFRs into the environment. The results obtained for observed levels of the sum of PBDE-47, -99 and -100 were n.d.--4000 pg/l for the raw leachate and n.d. for the treated one, respectively, and those of TBBPA were n.d.--620,000 pg/l for the raw leachate and n.d.--11,000 pg/l for the treated one, respectively. Three sites that not only had crushed material from bulk wastes such as waste electric and electronic equipment, but also were under operation or within a year since closure, indicated a higher concentration of BFRs than the other sites. In particular extremely high concentration of PBDEs was observed at a site with a large amount of organics. Considering the leaching characteristics of BFRs, there exists the possibility that leachability of PBDEs is influenced by the presence of dissolved humic matter (DHM) in the leachate. The high removal efficiency for BFRs in the leachate treatment process was also confirmed. 相似文献

The organic fraction of municipal solid wastes in Southeast Asia, which has a high moisture content, accounts for a large proportion of total waste. Local governments need to pay adequate attention to the composition of wastes to determine alternative waste management technologies. This study proposed the use of a triangle diagram to describe changes in proximate composition and rates of successful source separation of municipal solid waste and to identify technical challenges about alternative waste management technologies such as incineration, composting, and refuse-derived fuel production based on physical and proximate composition analysis of household waste sampled in Hanoi, Vietnam, as a case study. The analysis indicated the effectiveness of different types of source separation as well as different levels of successful achievement of source separation as an adjustment mechanism for the proximate composition of waste. Proper categorization of wastes for source separation is necessary for the appropriate use of alternative waste management technologies. The results showed that, at a source separation rate of just greater than 0.52 in a three-way separation scheme, the waste separated as combustible waste would be suitable for incineration with energy recovery. In this study, we analyzed hydroxylated polychlorinated biphenyls (OH-PCBs) in urine of both PCB transport workers and PCB researchers. A method to monitor OH-PCB in urine was developed. Urine was solid-phase extracted with 0.1% ammonia/ methanol (v/v) and glucuronic acid/sulfate conjugates and then decomposed using β-glucuronidase/arylsulfatase. After alkaline digestion/derivatization, the concentration of OH-PCBs was determined by HRGC/HRMS-SIM. In the first sampling campaign, the worker’s OH-PCB levels increased several fold after the PCB waste transportation work, indicating exposure to PCBs. The concentration of OH-PCBs in PCB transport workers’ urine (0.55~11 μg/g creatinine (Cre)) was higher than in PCB researchers’ urine (< 0.20 μg/g Cre). However, also a slight increase of OH-PCBs was observed in the researchers doing the air sampling at PCB storage area. In the second sampling, after recommended PCB exposure reduction measures had been enacted, the worker’s PCB levels did not increase during handling of PCB equipment. This suggests that applied safety measures improved the situation. Hydroxylated trichlorobiphenyls (OH-TrCBs) were identified as a major homolog of OH-PCBs in urine. Also, hydroxylated tetrachlorobiphenyls (OH-TeCBs) to hydroxylated hexachlorobiphenyls (OH-HxCBs) were detected. For the sum of ten selected major indicators, a strong correlation to total OH-PCBs were found and these can possibly be used as non-invasive biomarkers of PCB exposure in workers managing PCB capacitors and transformer oils. We suggest that monitoring of OH-PCBs in PCB management projects could be considered a non-invasive way to detect exposure. It could also be used as a tool to assess and improve PCB management. This is highly relevant considering the fact that in the next 10 years, approx. 14 million tons of PCB waste need to be managed.
